III is, you guessed it, the third release from Gothenburg, Sweden hard rock act Generous Maria, and first for Transubstans Records. This is upbeat, feel good hard rock that is highly influenced by American acts like Soundgarden and Aerosmith, and features plenty of meaty guitar riffs and catchy melodies. Singer Goran Florstrom has the perfect gravelly vocal style for these hard rockin' party anthems, delivering plenty of attitude and swagger on tracks like "Black Stone", "Got It All", and the groove laden "Evil Ways". A couple of the tunes here kind of veer a little too close towards generic sounding nu-metal, like "Medication" and "The Power of Denial", but for the most part III is fun, tight, and catchy hard rock fare. It might not send the music world on fire, but it's certainly worth checking out.
