Eagle Rock is dipping into the vaults of the late Canadian blues-rock guitarist Jeff Healey for this latest archival release House on Fire. This is a collection of studio rarities and demos recorded in the nineties between 1992 and 1998, and also includes covers of Bob Seger's "We've Got Tonight" and Bruce Springsteen's "Adam Raised A Cain". The blind guitar hero left us way too early due to cancer, but thankfully there's been plenty of strong material locked away in the archives waiting to be released which has helped his legend live on.
Plenty of solid rock & blues on House on Fire filled with Healey's strong vocals and sizzling guitar licks. Rockers like the title track, "All the Way", and "Who's Been Sleepin' in My Bed?" mix with the slower, blues tinged numbers such as "You Go Your Way (I'll Go Mine)" and "Too Late Now", while the bluesy, jazzy shuffle of "Bish Bang Boof " shows just how much the band could wow with their musical abilities in an instrumental format. Their cover of Springsteen's "Adam Raised a Cain" is especially noteworthy, and contains some scorching lead guitar solos from Healey, and the heartfelt cover of "We've Got Tonight" is very well done, complete with an emotional vocal from Jeff.
Jeff Healey fans should certainly find plenty to enjoy on House of Fire. Much more than just a quick cash grab, this CD has some pretty solid material from the vaults that reminds us just how much of a talent Jeff Healey really was.
