With origins going back to 1995 and then releasing their debut Inner Self in 1999, Norwegian progressive power metal group Divided Multitude now have a new release. Feed On Your Misery is the title and it is sure to impressive those who enjoy this style of music. While Divided Multitude does have similarities to other great bands but then again who doesn't have influences? Each group still needs that "something else" and Divided Multitude have an edge over some other progressive groups with their excellent back up vocals and the way their harmonies combine.
Divided Multitude's music is heavy, technical and melodic, and with a welcome healthy input from their keyboardist and a wealth of hard driving guitar riffs. Infusing a fitting balance of technical prowess as they exhibit that musical talent without detracting from the catchiness in their material this is one band that know what it takes. "Esperanto" brings an unexpected short Spanish instrumental before the band powers up to unveil an inviting style of progressive metal for title track "Feed On Your Misery". "What I See" reminds of Pagans Mind and then some as their vocalist does mix it up with his clean and sometimes harder edged style. Hard driving melodic music reveals itself on "Scars" which has more of that compelling Divided Multitude style of music and vocals. Heady riffs, double kicks and bass incorporate in duplication to bring their combined power to "Vicious By Heart" something the band do quite often on this release.
I hope to be proven wrong but I suspect Feed On Your Misery may be overlooked and not get the attention by music fans that its songs truly deserve, while of course other releases by bigger names will, including those not as good. So give Feed On Your Misery a go and help Divided Multitude to achieve the success they also deserve.
