Sultan Of String: Electric Storm

Dan Keller is the Sultan Of String. Why he chooses that moniker is beyond me 'cause the kid's got talent and if I were the one capable of fusing Asian-esque melodies with more traditional Western ones and doing it with the flare that Mr. Keller does, I'd want the world to know that my name was Dan Keller, goldnappit. That out of the way, this 10-song set came as nothing short of a neck-ripping surprise. Keller doesn't just play the guitar, he becomes it on tracks such as "Slaves Of Pyramid," "Yellowfant" and "Guardians Of The Throne." He also kindasorta reimagines Steve Vai's "For The Love Of God" on "Old Salt," as beautiful a guitar melody as has come down the line in recent memory. The bonus track, a vocal version of "Slaves Of Pyramid" is completely superflous, so after the first time, program your disc machine to jump over it. You'll never miss it. Not with the other tricks Keller has up his sleeve.
