Named after their lead vocalist is the Norwegian band PelleK and on this release his vocals certainly aren't restrained at times, to the point which they had myself thinking 'yes no doubt he can sing and with an impressive range, but really do we need to keep getting reminded ?'. Daniel Heiman is someone with an amazing vocal range which I appreciate greatly, but this isn't the case here it does get too much for my tastes anyway. His English pronouncitation is also shown up on "Brigantine Of Tranquility" though maybe it's just a case of trying too hard and like others before him where English isn't their native tongue I'm sure this will improve over time.
Ocean Of Opportunity is a melodic symphonic concept release not without its merits, as there is no problems with the musicianship which is very good with many energetic performances. Despite my vocal issues above and thanks to that appealing music I do enjoy the majority of the songs with the standout exception being "Gods Pocket" which I found to be just too cheesy.
Ocean Of Opportunity is not as riveting as what has been put out by the likes of Kamelot and Serenity, though PelleK is a promising band and does offer another option with this new release.
