Tsjuder: Desert Northern Hell (reissue)

I'm a big fan of black metal, but I have to admit that I was a little bit late to the party. I'm 36, so I *should* have been into black metal when I was growing up, but I wasn't. You see, back in the early 90s it was extremely difficult to find out about extreme metal outside of what was pushed by the mainstream media. There was no internet and basically the only way to find out about more underground stuff was through the pages of Metal Maniacs, and even then it was really hard to buy some of the obscure stuff unless you were willing to pay big bucks-Just as an example it cost me $27 back in 1992 to buy Paradise Lost's Shades of God on cassette! As a result a lot of stuff that is now considered "classic" flew right past me back when I was a teenager and I find myself trying to catch up frequently. This is why I love re-issues as it enables me to catch up with bands that I missed in the past, in this case Tsjuder and their album Desert Northern Hell.

For those of you not in the know, Tsjuder are a Norweigen Black Metal band who released their first demo in 1995, They split up briefly in 2006 but have been back together since 2010.Desert Northern Hell was originally released back in 2004. The re-release probably won't hold too many surprises for those who have already heard it, but as an added sweetner to those who own the original, the re-release includes 4 live bonus tracks plus the Norwegian Apocalypse CD.

Musically the band is stunning and play Black Metal in the style of early Darkthrone and even Gorgoroth. Seething with anger and hate, the tracks are a blast of fury.

Those who have never heard the album would do well to check it out as this is definitely an album that you do not want to miss out on.
