Somewhere, someplace, Bon Scott must be smiling, as lately there seems to be no shortage of young bands mimicking the early sounds of AC/DC, and doing it quite well I might add. Swedish act Dynamite are the latest act to jump on the Aussie's bandwagon, delivering a fun, hard rockin' set here on their debut for Domination Records titled Lock 'N Load. These upstarts have only been together since 2012, so they've put this little band together quickly but still managed to deliver a collection of catchy rockers that contain many of the qualities that Bon, Angus, and the boys were so good at early in their career. Memorable rockers like "Stone Heart Rebel", "Bullseye", "Wild Wild Woman", and the attitude laden title track contain all those familiar elements, with Mattis Karlsson's vocals sounding eerily similar to the late Bon Scott. Sebastian Hed-Plikas, along with Karlsson, churn out guitar licks that of course recall Angus & Malcolm Young, slashing and cranking on face melters "Gone Wild" and "Midnight Lady" like it was the second coming of Highway to Hell.
Now I'm not the worlds biggest AC/DC fan, but I can certainly feel the positives here and have fun with Lock 'N Load. As a potent homage to the Australian legends, Dynamite have done a good job here.
