Potential Threat SF: Civilization Under Threat

The best thing about this album is easily its dual guitar attack. There's just something magical about the harmonies two guitars can create, especially when they play rapidly and in sync. The sound rushes to the heart, quickening its beat and encouraging the spread of adrenaline. When I hear it, all I want to do is lose myself in the excitement, throw my fist in the air, and move (I'm too old to mosh!).

Even though I enjoyed this album—thrash rarely disappoints—the music was played at a slightly slower tempo than I would have preferred. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but most thrash seems to push a little harder, straddling the line between heavy metal and hardcore punk. The music on this album, though consistently aggressive and driving, holds back a little too much, not quite giving itself over to its punk influences as much as it should have. The best tracks were "Destroy and Dominate" and "Rise of the Apocalpyse" because the band moves squarely into old school territory, showing off the strength of thrash and showing off some powerful guitar leads, especially in the former.
