Hartmann: The Best is Yet to Come/ Out in the Cold +1
Oliver Hartmann is one of those artists who are sadly born in the wrong era. If he had been around in the mid to late 1980s I am sure he would have been a major star as his music is of the hard rock variety which is hard enough for guys but also soft enough for the girlies. He's like a German Bon Jovi if you will but more than anything else he is (as is more often the case than you'd think) very much like David Coverdale in his vocal mannerisms. This is in no way a criticism, there was a time when it appeared the whole world wanted to be the Cov!
Both of these albums are well worthy of your attention if you like well-constructed pop/metal. Surprisingly the compilation The Best is Yet to Come gives a fair summation of Hartmann and his band's career thus far and should probably bring you up to speed nicely whilst the debut album from 2005 is a more than solid effort. Avantasia completists will note that Tobias Sammet and Sacha Paeth both make appearances with Paeth himself liberally spreading his production values all over the place which is always a good thing.
