Remnants Of The Fallen: Perpetual Immaturity

Hailing from South Korea, Melodic Death/Metalcore act Remnants Of The Fallen, have it would appear reissued their 2012, second EP Perpetual Immaturity with a couple of new tracks added into the mix. I can't say I've stumbled over much Asian extreme, however if the seven tracks that make up this EP (although with the two new cuts "Dormancy" and "God Idolatry", ROTF are billing this thirty minute or so effort as an album), are anything to go by, I'll be rectifying that soon.

Even through claims of being "heavier, faster and more melodic than any other one would find within the genre", there isn't much in the way of originality, however Remnants... still do it very well. A stirring mix of slower paced hammer blows creep up on you in between blast beat flurries and excellent gargled vocals from Bin. Which are also in reasonably understandable (no less or more so than UK or US bands in this genre anyway) English and also well worth making the efforts to decipher.

Think along the usual lines of As I Lay Dying, At The Gates, The Black Dahlia Murders, or Kalmah and you'll know where Remnants Of The Fallen are coming from, but the unintentionally aptly titled (Bin, Jin, Jae-Won, Chan and Jon-Yeon look unfeasibly youthful) Perpetual Immaturity is a prime example of you don't have to break down genre barriers if you are good at what you do. Especially through the clinical blasts of "Path Of Shame" and "Answers Beyond".

Early days for Remnants Of The Fallen, but more of the same will confirm them as a band with true promise.
