Italian group Altair are off to a most respectable start with their debut Lost In Eden. Founded by guitarist Gianmarco Bambini and bass player Luca Scalabrin then came vocalist Simone Mala, keyboard player Enrico Ditta, guitarist Gianluca Ferioli and finally drummer Daniele Dalla Dea joined and the band's line-up was in place.
Melodic power metal is the style this band perform and they do it very well on songs like "Power Of The Gods". "Power Of The Gods" features the very active and sought after talented lead vocalist Fabio Lione of epic metal group Rhapsody Of Fire and the power metal bands Vision Divine and Hollow Haze, Fabio joins with lead vocalist Simone who like to hit the high ones also on this vibrant track. Fabio has recently been touring with Angra having also filled in for another popular metal group Kamelot at one stage while they also searched for a new vocalist giving more metal fans the opportunity to experience his powerful vocals. So he sure is an persuasive drawcard to have as a participant on Alatir's debut even if it is only for this one song.
Altair keep the dual kicks going strong for "Reaching The Dreams" and it is the keyboards and guitars of Altair which add greatly to the appeal of this band. Soaring high with "Fly Away" Altair unveils more uplifting European power metal with spirited solos and they do it again on "Lost Eden". Altair also locks in that energetic musicianship on songs like "Winds Of Change" showing they like to alternate the tempo which is never a bad thing.
Lost In Eden is an entertaining power metal album by Altair featuring a fitting selection of strong songs and performances.
