This extreme-metal concept album about Caesar's Roman army based on ancient and modern writings with lyrics sung in French won't make a lick of sense to you — even if you speak French. Singer Pierre-Alexandre Plessix practically rips his vocal cords out here, making the second full-length album from Canadian band Catuvolcus — the name means "battle wolf" in the extinct Celtic language of Gaul — primarily for existing fans.
That said, the band's blend of black metal, folk metal and melodic instrumentation (as well as its status as "the first Gaul black-metal band," according to Wikipedia) may attract head-banging history buffs or those seeking the novelty factor. But this stuff is not for the weak.
