Inferno are a Czech black metal band whose latest release form Agonia Records, Omniabsence Filled By His Greatness, sees them going further into atmospheric & psychedelic sounds, yet still retaining plenty of their brutality. This is by no means a straightforward ferocious speed fest, as the band utilize many guitar textures and effects to create creepy atmosphere, plus you have the tortured vocal moans of Adramelech, who really is somewhat of a unique singer in the black metal genre. "Revelations Through the Void" is a perfect example of what Inferno bring to the table, as manic riffing & blast beats attempt to bludgeon the listener, but those haunting vocal screams & moans just set the eerie tone. Creepy, psychedelic textures and colors abound on this album, especially on the lengthy "The Heretical Fissure of the Most Distant End", while the band even mixes in some crushing doom laden death metal on the raging "Metastasis of Realistic Visions". At times, the ringing guitars give off keyboard-like effects, which you can hear on the wild "The Firstborn From Murk", reminding a bit of some of the classic work of Dark Funeral.
As an atmospheric black metal album, this is a good one. Quite different sounding than what many other bands of the genre are churning out, which is reason enough to seek this CD out.
