Boston thrash/hardcore/death metal act Ramming Speed are no doubt gaining speed with their latest Prosthetic Records release Doomed to Destroy, Destined to Die. This is a pretty furious affair, as the band blend numerous extreme styles into a sound that is fast & lethal, with barely a moment to catch your breath in between all the raging arrangements. The vocals of Pete Gallagher are going to be an acquired taste for all the die hard metal heads in the house, as he's squarely from a hardcore and punk background, but the music is full on thrash metal with killer guitar work courtesy of Kallen Bliss & Blake Chuffskin. Tunes such as "Gorgon's Eye", "Anticipating Failure", "Ministry of Truth", and the fine title track all hit the marks as far as delivering plenty of savagery and inventive guitar riffery. Personally, I'm kind of hit or miss on Gallagher's vocals. He's fine for the most part, but can get grating in spots and let's be honest, he doesn't have the most original delivery that you'll ever hear. Regardless this is a good collection of quick, fast, and furious thrashy hardcore/metal with some stellar guitar work that is worth your while to check out.
