Running Wild now there's the name of a German metal group that has been around for quite some time, true metal survivors with well over thirty years behind them forming back in seventies and of course we have Running Wild to thank for the wonderful pirate metal anthem "Under Jolly Roger". On their newest album Resilient Running Wild show they are still very motivated performing more of that classic style heavy metal.
There have been many changes in the Running Wild ranks over time but the sole original member that has remained is Rolf "Rock'n'Rolf" Kasparek, and for the most part this recording is his work. I would usually be quite hesitant with a metal release where the recorded drums aren't those performed by an actual drummer, Running Wild have chosen to go the programmed route on Resilient and the results are best summed up as adequate.
Running Wild fire their cannons with "Soldiers Of Fortune" starting in an upbeat fashion, "Resilient" is your classic mid paced heavy rocker think Accept or U.D.O, and "Adventure Highway" has a partly Judas Priest feel at "Hell Bent For Leather" pace. "The Drift" maintains that lively momentum and the guitars steal the show on this one. "Desert Rose" is a catchy heavy rock tune and there are more that follow, then the brave souls of Running Wild drop anchor as they dare to venture onto "Bloody Island" and a fine rather lengthy song for all of ye to enjoy it is.
Resilient wont be the last time we hear from Running Wild as I'm sure Rolf "Rock'n'Rolf" Kasparek will be embarking once again with more exciting tales to tell.
