The alternative and relatively new metal group Mind Enemies started the ball rolling in 2011 as a solo project, though this would change with others brought in and Mind Enemies became a band instead. Judging from the songs on Mind Enemies' first recording which is a four song EP titled The Darkest Way and its diversity shows that the band aren't narrowing their preferences. Though it isn't any wonder with their fondness for such a range of metal and rock acts like thrash bands Metallica and Slayer, progressive metal group Dream Theater , the heavy grooving Pantera, grunge rockers Nirvana and Soundgarden and the legends Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd.
"Son of Silence" begins with an addictive potent guitar groove and includes an animated instrumental section something this group does very well, the band shifts from rock to hard rock to eventually metal on "The Darkest Way", "Another Life" also has it's share of changes in the heaviness, "Oblivion" comes with a harder edge from the vocals and guitar riffs and the guitar is indeed more likeable than those vocals.
The musical component of Mind Enemies is their strongpoint, while there are vocals and they aren't bad just not overly compelling so try as I have I just can't warm to them which leaves me generally more focused on the music. Not an isolated case as there are other groups where the vocalist's don't have that appeal but then the music more than compensates, and "Oblivion" is a good example on The Darkest Way.
