Those wonderful folks over at Eagle Rock have been delivering many excellent DVDs & Blu-rays over the years of live concerts & documentaries from some of our favorite heavy metal, hard rock, prog, classic rock, and jazz artists. Here, the label has released the documentary Springsteen & I, presented by Mr Wolf and Ridley Scott Associates. Also released around the world theatrically, Springsteen & I takes a look at the fanbase of iconic rocker Bruce Springsteen, more so than the star himself. While there are plenty of vintage and recent concert performances sprinkled around the film, it's the interviews with many rabid fans, who pour their heart out about their love for the man & the music, that makes up the bulk of the material here. While some of the stories told and the emotions displayed, to some, might seem excessive, it's not hard to realize just how much the music of Springsteen has meant to so many millions of fans around the world over the last 40 years. And, for those loyal fans, there are a good amount of welcome live clips included on this Blu-ray that will make this package worth picking up, including a few from his 2012 Hyde Park concert. A poignant "Thunder Road" and especially a rousing, explosive "Because the Night" are worth the price of admission alone, the latter with a scorching guitar solo from Nils Lofgren.
Probably not something for the prog & metal faithful of this site, but for those classic rockers and Bruce fans who peruse here, you'll want to add this to your collection. The quality of the video & audio as always from the Eagle Rock crew is suberb, and the film itself is expertly laid out and presented.
