Kosmos: Salattu Maailma

Kosmos is a folk-progressive group from Turku, Finland. The band plays progressive - folk inspired music set to comfortable and soft tones.

The band includes: Aapo Helenius, on guitar, drums, harmonium, and conga drums; Päivi Kylmänen, on vocals and reading; Kimmo Lähteenmäki, on drums, organ, and Mellotron; Kari Vainionpää, on guitar, bass, and flute; Olli Valtonen, on shrutibox, Buddhabox, Tampura; Ismo Virta, on guitar, organ, Mellotron, and glockenspiel. Additional guests include: Jukka Aaltonen, on violin; Juha Kulmala, reading; Timo Leino, on flute; and Timo 'Tekri' Niemi, reading.

Kosmos is strongly influenced by folk music, progressive rock and the psychedelic rock of the early seventies. All of the track's lyrics are sung in Finnish by Päivi Kylmänen.

Salattu Maailma was released in 2013 by Magna Carta Records.

This is an elegant album of Finnish folk music mixed well with progressive rock sounds and melodies. You can hear the influences of bands like ELP and King Crimson and their early incantations.

Every track on this album is full of emotion, soft female vocals and expert musicianship. My favorite tracks are: "A Hidden World", "Seashell", "The Wind", "A Dream", and "Back to the Stream".
