Recorded live at the Viper Room in Hollywood, California in support of their recent studio album Carnaby Street, Hot 'n Sticky is an energetic live album from legendary hard rock/glam vocalist Michael Des Barres and his red hot band. The former Silverhead, Detective, and The Power Station vocalist is in fine form throughout this scorching set, which features mostly songs from the recent studio album plus a few cover songs. Rounding out the band is Paul Ill on bass, David Goodstein on drums, keyboard player Damon Fox (also of Bigelf & Lisa Marie Presley), and guitarist Mark Tremalgia. Some of the highlights here include a hard rocking "Carnaby Street", a wicked cover of "Stop! In the Name of Love" that would make the Vanilla Fudge proud, complete with a sizzling Hammond organ solo from Fox, the bluesy "Please Stay" & "You're My Pain Killer" that each show Des Barres' still powerful vocal ability, the heavy Faces styled blues rock of "Detective Man", the Mott the Hoople inspired "Little Latin Lover" (featuring some sizzling slide guitar licks courtesy of Tremalgia), and a fun near 10 minute medley that contains both the Humble Pie classic "I Don't Need No Doctor" and the Marc Bolan/Power Station hit "Get It On".
Hot 'n Sticky delivers '60s & '70s styled rock 'n' roll the way it ought to be played, and along with his talented band, Des Barres shows that he can still deliver the goods and plans to for many years to come.
