Good time rock 'n' roll, blues, and boogie...that's what we've been getting from George Thorogood & the Destroyers for as long as many of us can remember. Nothin' fancy, just sweaty, booze drenched, dirty guitar oriented music that is the perfect soundtrack to any BBQ or keg party. The band finally played the famous Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland in 2013 for the first time (hard to believe, seeing as the group has been around since 1977), and this high quality DVD contains the full 82 minute set that is littered with classic songs from this bluesy institution. Thorogood never portrayed himself as the worlds greatest blues rock guitarist, but his '50 Chicago blues inspired licks come pouring out of his Gibson guitar every step of the way here, and he rips out the slide for a raucous version of "Bad to the Bone". Other favorites played here include "Who Do You Love", "Night Time", "I Drink Alone", "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer", "Cocaine Blues", "Move It On Over", "Get a Haircut", and of course "Madison Blues". George is still in fine form vocally too, his gravelly roar sounding just as nasty as it did back in the late '70s. The rest of the band is tight and help keep these songs groovin' along. Visuals and audio on the DVD is top notch, and there is a bonus interview with Thorogood included in the special features, as well as a nice little booklet with photos and info. So, bring out that bourbon, that scotch, that beer, and get bad to the bone!
