Sometimes we can get pretty spoiled with certain record labels who just consistently churn out quality releases from veteran & new bands time and time again, and when that label then cranks out something that borders on the mediocre side, disappointment can easily set it. I've felt for the last few years that Transubstans Records has done an amazing job of introducing the world to a long list of stellar Swedish & European bands in the metal, stoner, doom, hard rock & heavy prog styles, so when I saw they were releasing the latest from veteran punk 'n' roll act Chuck Norris Experiment, I was a tad skeptical. Now, don't get me wrong, that are no doubt going to be plenty of people who will find Right Between the Eyes a hell of a lot of fun, and truth be told there's a certain charm to tracks like "Earth is Shaking" and "Black Leather", in a punky hard rock way, and "Eaten Alive" almost connects me back to those old '70s AC/DC records. For the most part though much of Right Between the Eyes sounds like rehashed Motley Crue/Motorhead/Faster Pussycat with a punk attitude, and lacking some of the depth that many of the Transubstans releases contain. As I mentioned earlier, no doubt there will be a large audience ready and willing to lap this up, unfortunately I'm not one of them. Your mileage however may vary, so it this sounds like your cup of tea, please by all means dive right in.
