From Seattle comes Mystery Ship, another young band looking to cash in on the '70s retro hard rock/proto metal sweepstakes. With a few EPs & singles already under their belt, the band are now unleashing the 7" 45 rpm vinyl of "Bridgeburner", a fine piece steeped in classic hard rock sounds, complete with big guitar riffs, pounding rhythms, and strong vocals. It's definitely a tune that any fan of Cream, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple will appreciate. The other song on display here is a blues rock song called "Chinatown"- no, not the classic Thin Lizzy tune, but a blues/hard rock/rockabilly styled number that's fairly generic, though containing some pretty fine guitar solos courtesy of Michael Wohl. You can definitely hear some talent in this band, and I've love to see them put together a full-length in the near future so we can check out some more from them.
