Odd name for a band, but these Danes certainly know how to churn out some lean, mean stoner rock grooves on their latest release for Napalm Records, The Cave & the Sunlight. Fuzz drenched heavy rock riffs, whiskey soaked vocals, anthemic choruses, wild guitar solos, smashing rhythms...yep, you get the picture, these guys are delivering on some '70s styled psych/hard rock here, and it's all well done, high quality stuff. The band is comprised of Christian Hede Madsen ( Guitar, vocals), Torben Wæver Pedersen (Bass, backing vocals), and Christian Von Larsen (drums), and the power trio barnstorm through bluesy, metallic crushers like "Let Your Dragon Fly", "Kamikaze Night", the Black Sabbath inspired "Fire Baby", the feedback & distortion packed two parter "Marching Earth", and the kick ass brontosaurus stomp of "What Now". Doom laden riffing is in abundant supply throughout the album, so if you are someone who is all about the appreciation of the almighty 'riff', then The Cave & the Sunlight needs to find its way into your music collection, pronto.
