Long considered an underground classic, Only Death is Real... from Brazil's Apokalyptic Raids is now being reissued on vinyl from the fine folks over at Hells Headbangers. Originally released in 2001, this one is like a long lost Hellhammer or Celtic Frost demo, as the band squarely are paying homage to their heroes here, so much so that they've even got the guitar tones and bludgeoning drum attack down to a tee. "Forgotten Tales" and "Into the Twilight Zone" simply kick ass with old school goodness, that early black/death/thrash sound perfectly executed by these Brazilians. Other highlights include the raging "Angels of Hell", the crushing, groove laden "Tyrant, Emperor", and the relentless "Apocalyptic Raids".
Nothing pretty or subtle here, just raw, primal, old school styled death/black/thrash metal in the grand tradition of Hellhammer & Celtic Frost. Can't go wrong with that. So, get your head back into 1985 and enjoy.
