Hattler: Basscuts

Long time member of the legendary Kraan , bass man Hellmut Hattler presents us with Basscuts . This disc contains an odd assortment of techno dance music with slight forays into jazz and even some New Age. 2 vocal tracks are included . Voiceless sounds like lounge jazz with female vocalist Nkechi Mbakwe sounding a little listless and cliché . The Saying , the other vocal track, is more of a techno-trance sounding number . As for the instrumental pieces on this disc, some do provide for some interesting moments. Bass Camp is easily the best number on the disc and features a great bass lead which builds in intensity. Most tracks, however, might appeal only to Dieter, host of the hit show Sprockets (from SNL) in that they feature repetetive electronic drum beats that would be better suited for the dance floor than an evening spent in the bean bag chair with the headphones on and a bong between your thighs. There's no doubt that Mr Hattler is a gifted musician, but this release is aiming for an audience which doesn't read Sea Of Tranquility. Proceed at your own risk.
