Canadian tech-death upstarts Archspire return with their sophomore release for Season of Mist, titled The Lucid Collective. Those of you who found their 2011 debut All Shall Allign to be some fine genre fare, get ready for even more guitar pyrotechnics, blasting, and brutal growling on this latest platter of insane, furious complexity. That's right, this is brutal, technical stuff for all those who can't get enough Obscura, Gorguts, Spawn of Possession, Decapitated, Decrepit Birth, Soreption, Deeds of Flesh, Necrophagist, and Origin. Face melting, stop/start arrangements, acrobatic drum blasting, crushing, technical riffs, blazing, often times jazzy solos, and a mix of evil growls, screams, bellows, and grunts permeate each and every song. "Scream Feeding" is a relentless, pounding frenzy of malevolence, while "Seven Crowns and the Oblivion" features a relentless barrage of endless riffing and gymnastic drum fills. Prog fans will love the textured instrumental "Kairos Chamber", and the awesome shredding of "Spontaneous Generation" is, well, a pretty damn jaw dropping exercise in technical death metal ferocity.
Toss in some cool cover art, and you have an awesome new tech-death release from Archspire. This is head spinning stuff folks.
