Dark Days Ahead! What a fine name for a band from Finland! Very droll from a band who don't look like a bunch of funsters in their promotional pictures but who certainly pack a punch on CD/vinyl/mp3 or whatever your chosen platform may be. The band which consists of Tony Kaikkonen – vocals, Jarkko Petosalmi – guitar, Jari Huttunen – guitar, Jukka Salonen – bass and Ville Sivonen – drums have produced a shit-kicking second album full of riffs, solid grooves and a tendency to add thrash metal conventions to their groove metal stylings. This has led to North Star Blues being an intriguing album which initially gives the impression that it may all well be a little too much Pantera-lite but is actually something much better because the band has bothered to write some very good songs.
