Nightsatan are the Finnish trio comprised of Wolf Rami, Inhalator II, and Mazathoth. The band have tagged themselves as 'laser metal', though to be honest there's nothing remotely 'metal' at all about their music, instead of heavy guitars and pounding drums these three concoct instrumental, post apocalyptic synth dominated prog/soundtrack type of material. Somewhat like a marriage of Tangerine Dream and Goblin, Nightsatan here provide what is essentially the soundtrack to their movie Nightsatan and the Loops of Doom, a film directed by Chrzu (who worked on the animated film Curse of the Remote Island) that pays tribute to old Italian post-apocalyptic science fiction. Fans of Goblin's soundtrack albums to some of those vintage Italian horror/giallo films of the '70s will certainly find lots to love here, and the influence of Tangerine Dream just seeps out of the pores of many of the tracks on this soundtrack album. Synthesizer washes galore, meditative loops, as well as some gymnastic progressive rock styled explorations permeate tunes such as "Nightmare In The Night Doomsday Judgement", "Battle Knights", and "Lost Karelia", while "Rejects Of The Wasteland" is perhaps the only real aggressive cut on the album, as some heavy synth riffs combat gorgeous soundscapes for a wonderful sound. Overall, this is pretty cool stuff for those that can't get enough electronic synth music, as well as, um, all you laser metal fans out there.
