Enduring the Massacre was the debut album from UK death metal trio Dyscarnate, released in 2010 on Siege Of Amida Records/Century Media, and now being reissued along with their 2012 effort And So It Came to Pass. Precise and plenty brutal, Enduring the Massacre falls somewhere between efforts from Hate Eternal and Aborted, somewhat technical yet never going full speed ahead into noodle-ville, always retaining the constant heaviness factor. There are riffs aplenty here, as on "An Axe to Grind", "Extinguishing the Face of Heaven", and the pulverizing "Judecca". For sheer brutality, it doesn't get much better than "Those Who Trespass Against Us", and the crushing, undulating riffing and inhuman blast beats of the title track show us what is so appealing about well played death metal. If you didn't get to check out this very fine debut from Dyscarnate the first time around, make sure you do it now.
