European thrashers Game Over make no bones about their love for classic Bay Area thrash & speed metal on their latest platter of metal Burst Into the Quiet. Much of the album will take you all the way back to 1987, when bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Exodus, Heathen, and Testament were all the rage, when all you needed were denim, leather, fast riffs & double bass drumming. Tunes such as "Masters of Control", "Seven Doors to Hell", "Trapped Inside Your Mind", and the neck snapping "The Eyes (Of the Mad Gardner)" all sound as close to that classic sound as you can get, with no shortage of ripping solos, crunchy riffs, and those pummeling rhythms. Bassist Reno has that James Hetfield/Dave Mustaine/Schmier vocal style going in full force, snarling throughout each of these 9 high energy tunes, and those full band backing vocals on "Nuke "em High" instantly bring to mind Overkill, Exodus, and Anthrax.
Overall, one of the better modern thrash releases you'll hear this year, and a great homage to the classic sound of the '80s.
