Kap Kap: Flux of Solace

Kap Kap is a five piece experimental rock band from Helsinki, Finland. They have previously released two records: 2008's Fullmooner EP and 2010's Holy Are You. The band themselves describe it as a kind of classic rock album that has everything for everyone, but still holds the recognizable Kap Kap -sound. The songs apparently reflect the feelings of a modern man in this world: wanderlust, rebellion of the individual and community, living on earth and on the other side.

I'm not at all sure I'd call Flux of Solace classic rock, I find much of the album quite soporific (especially the near nine minute "Old Goat") and one-paced when I suspect that it is meant to be haunting and hypnotic. Much better is the more minimal "Don't You Know" and whilst the band should be given props for being decidedly different from much of what one would expect on this site I didn't find much here to get enthused about although "Eternal Clouds" has a certain poppy charm.
