Daniels, Neil: Reckless - A Casual Guide to the Music of Bryan Adams (Book)
This latest effort from top drawer rock scribe Neil Daniels is released just ahead of a nostalgia driven arena tour of the UK from Canada's most successful singer-songwriter to mark the 30th anniversary of Reckless. Following on from Daniels' Casual Guide to the music of Neal Schon this follows a similar format by way of an extensive look at each album together with a discography, timeline and quotes both from the man himself and other music writers. One thing many seem to agree on is that 'Everything I Do…' was most definitely a watershed moment in Adams career and his subsequent material is largely considered as being below par. The author also seems to concur with this view stating that in the late 90's Adams "lost his way" but one thing all seem to be agreed on is that Reckless remains one hell of an album that has stood the test of time.
Compiled with the authors usual attention to detail there is little here that the reader will be left wondering about Adams career and there is also a trivia section for anyone that wants to delve a little deeper. Available in an easy to digest e-book format via Amazon alongside the regular paperback version this offers a great read.
