Creating engaging Symphonic Power Metal is something the Italian band Derdian clearly have a grasp of, and it's all here to be heard on Derdian's latest album Human Reset. Releasing four prior albums since forming in the year 1998 Derdian have decided to embark on a different route with their new album, as instead of fictional inspiration they are taking on "current issues of the human society".
Orchestral introductory track "Eclipse" passes by quite promptly giving way to "Human Reset" a lively Euro power metal track with a generous layering of vocals, and like much of Human Reset Is one for the fans of two of the finest symphonic metal groups Rhapsody Of Fire and Dark Moor. This enticing musical direction continues on "In Everything" flowing spiritedly and with a strong classical influence, though not so with "Mafia" when Derdian show another and very cool contemporary side, a good move that shows what an adaptable group they are. Classical music unites with power metal once more for the delicious symphonic cocktail that is "These Rails Will Bleed" and it doesn't stop there as Human Reset has thirteen tracks, and Derdian haven't included any fillers.
So with another striking album to their name we can thank bands like Derdian for ensuring that Symphonic Power Metal remains such an attractive style of music.
