Richard Pinhas & Yoshida Tatsuya: Welcome In The Void

Richard Pinhas is one of those very much unheralded (in the wider public consciousness) musos who displays more creativity in a minute than some artists do in a decade and this ambitious album is the second part of his Devolution trilogy and is being released simultaneously alongside Tikkun on which he collaborates with Oren Ambarchi. Here, alongside Yoshida Tatsuya, Pinhas creates an astounding piece (in "Part Two - Core Trax") which almost defies categorization. Is it rock? Is it jazz? Improv? It's probably a combination of all three propelled by Tatsuya's sensitive yet muscular percussive patterns and Pinhas' own sense of experimentation which makes this album an essential purchase for anyone longing for challenging and wonderous soundscapes.
