Towers In The Distance is the debut full length album of the group Heliosaga. Drawing from power, symphonic and gothic metal with a vast list of influences including the groups Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, Therion, Kamelot, Helloween, Angra and Stratovarius. Add strong female operatic vocals to the mix and sure whilst Heliosaga's style is nothing too unfamiliar, though with the quality of their songs this band shouldn't be dismissed without being given a chance. Heliosaga are a U.S. metal band formed in 2010 and currently residing in Minnesota.
Heliosaga wastes no time in displaying their powerful sound on "A Tower So Tall" as they promptly get underway, "To Heal All Wounds" is one of Towers In The Distance's best featuring blazing guitar,furious double kicks and infectious riffs reminiscent of Nightwish. Actually other parts of this album like the guitar on the opening track reminds me of that band's earlier material in sound and style. Then you have a track like "Luminary" an explosive at times metal which sounds like the potent power metal group Lost Horizon with soaring operatic vocals, that's how wide ranging their influences are.
Give Towers In The Distance a go, you may be pleasantly surprised as I was.
