Where Giants Once Stood: Live Above EP

I've never been a big fan of the style of metal these guys play. I especially have always thought that the alternating of clean and rough vocals is something that just gets too much play. It's an interesting idea and sometimes it can even work pretty well. In general, though, I find the melodic lines to be not only predictable but also overly emotive. I understand that the vocal lines are meant to represent the emotions described in the lyrics, but all the yearning, the longing, and the regret is just too much after a while.

Aside from my dislike of the alternating vocal style, the band is actually pretty good. I was especially impressed with the technical skill of the guitars, the twin harmonies, and the very melodic solos. The drum and bass parts were no less clean and tight.
