Hot on the heels of the announcement that the band will be opening for King Diamond's jaunt across North America this Fall, Finnish act Jess and the Ancient Ones & their label Svart Records are releasing this 2-song 10" titled Castaneda. Led as always by the haunting vocals of Jess, the band dive into some chilling soundscapes on the prog/blues/hard rock title cut, as ominous Mellotron, creepy organ, and effective guitar licks surround the singers enchanting delivery. "As to be With Him" has more of a lilting pop feel, a '60s styled rocker with layers of jangly guitars, loose rhythms, and plenty of organ. It's all roughly 12 minutes of pretty cool sounds, two new tracks that will surely please Jess and the Ancient Ones growing number of fans, and a little teaser to keep us salivating for their next full length release.
