There's some serious Slayer, Exodus, and Sepultura worship going on throughout Legion, the latest from longstanding Brazilian thrash act Korzus. Actually, that statement is probably not fair, as Korzus have been around as long as any of those acts playing their brand of brutal thrash, so truth be told they've been doing their thing for 30 years but just haven't had the exposure of the other three. That being said, if you appreciate the music of the bands I mentioned, then you most certainly will get a kick out of Legion, a blazing collection of raging thrash metal that features all the elements we love about the genre. Want churning, relentless riffing? Check out "Broken". Have a penchant for the Bay Area styled choruses? Give a listen to "Six Seconds". Can't get enough double bass drum mayhem? Look no further than the manic "Vampiro". Other highlights include the riff-tastic "Die Alone", the pulverizing, groove laden "Time Has Come", and the moody, classic metal strains of the crushing title track.
Though Legion is probably more familiar sounding than it is groundbreaking, there's no denying that in the end it's simply a very solid thrash album from a band that's been delivering now for 30 plus years. If you've yet to explore the music of Korzus, this is as good a place to start as any.
