The latest edition in the Eagle Rock From the Vault series is a 2 1/2 hour set from the Stones shot on December 18, 1981 at the Hampton Coliseum in Virginia on their Tatoo You tour. It also happened to be Keith Richards' birthday, as well as the first music concert ever broadcast on television as a per per view event. So, it's a pretty special show and now available officially for the very first time.
The setlist is packed with classic Rolling Stones favorites, such as "Let it Bleed", "Tumbling Dice", "Under My Thumb", "Brown Sugar", "Miss You", "Honky Tonk Woman", and "Jumping Jack Flash", but there are no shortage of then newer numbers as well. "When the Whip Comes Down", "Shattered", "Going to a Go Go", "Just My Imagination", "She's So Cold", "Hang Fire", and of course Keith's boozy "Little T&A" are all performed splendidly and fit right into the set. Mick Jagger as always is running and prancing around all over the stage, once again showing why he has been one of the best frontmen in rock for 50 years. The quality of the video is decent, not the clearest picture out of some of the recent Stones video releases from Eagle Rock, but certainly very good, and the audio is stellar. The SD Blu-ray comes with a fine little color booklet packed with photos & info, so sit back, crack open a cold one, and enjoy a few hours with Mick, Keith and the boys circa 1981.
