Exist Immortal: Darkness Of An Age

Oh man, is the world of Metal in some good hands of late. Bands that have grabbed on to the genre that the Mighty Meshuggah has single handedly created are serving their forefathers quite well. Bands like Periphery, Monuments, Volumes and the utterly brilliant TesseracT, have forged a bright trail in the genre now known a Djent. Now entering the fray are the superb UK band, Exist Immortal, with their new record, Darkness Of An Age.

These Brits are aggressive as all hell, while being melodic at the same time. They bash you about the head and throat, while soothing the blows with beautifully cascading chorus' and emotive vocals that are also at times containing brutal screaming delivered by vocalist, Meyrick de la Fuente. The tune "Legions" is an excellent example of what the band can do, with both beauty and ferociousness. Reminds me of something like Scar Symmetry in the chorus and is quite damn good.

Exist Immortal's Darkness Of An Age is a stand out Metal record for this 1st quarter of the year. If you dig heavy groove laden, technical Metal with great soaring vocals and a great sense of melodic flair, then Exist Immortal is a band that you NEED to hear....right now! These guys can riff it up with the best of 'em and I expect this record to be in my Top of 2015 list at the end of the year. Welcome Exist Immortal into the Djent conversation, as these guys are just simply epic. AND the North American version of the album contains 4 Bonus Tracks!!!
