Many Italian bands do seem to have a fondness for power metal and it's something they do very well, and here we have yet another, Crimson Wind. Crimson Wind have returned to unleash a second offering Last Poetry Line, featuring more of that melodious power metal. A step up from their debut The Wings of Salvation in consistency, Last Poetry Line has Crimson Wind pumping out that vibrant power metal without going over the top like some others tend to. Since that last album Crimson Wind now have a new lead vocalist one who proves that he is a great match for the band's material. So anyone who was nervous about the change up front need not worry as they have chosen a winner. If you are familiar with the lead vocalist of the very good Austrian metal group Serenity, the vocals here aren't that dissimilar. Actually those fans of Serenity, Dark Moor and similar bands should give Crimson Wind a go.
Crimson Winds are clearly competent musicians be it the thunderous drumming and heavy hard driving riffs of "Death Dwells in Sight" or the sprightly solos and bustling keyboards on "In Vain". As to be expected the speed is there but hardly overused as there's lots of of variety on their powerful melodic tracks. Last Poetry Line is certainly an enjoyable album with enough to keep your immersed and many standouts such as the opener "Black Shelter" and the potent symphonic power metal track "Death Dwells in Sight". 2015's off to a flyer with excellent new power metal releases from Blind Guardian, Angra and the newer act Wind Rose. Last Poetry Line has Crimson Wind's metal also heading in the right direction, this is another strong new album.
