I wasn't sure what to expect with a title of Space Music For Cave People, but my initial thoughts of a possible trip down psychedelic avenue were quickly squashed with the massive stoner grooves of opener "Buried Away". Crowned By Fire hail from Los Angeles and have churned out a handful of catchy, heavy stoner grooves here on this new EP, a sure bet to please any fan of Black Label Society, Crowbar, Kyuss, Corrosion of Conformity, and Down. "Light ov the Voodoo Star" has a certain doomy, southern twang, the riffs massive, and vocals catchy, and "Crowned By Fire" definitely is not lacking for thumping grooves and heavy guitar dirges. The band goes all Lynyrd Skynyrd on us with the rootsy Southern Rock anthem "Something in Her Blood", while the title track contains no shortage of screaming pinch harmonics, muscular power chords, pounding drums, and whiskey soaked vocals. A fun take on the Blue Oyster Cult classic "Burnin' For You" rounds out this short but enjoyable EP which shows a band with a lot of promise for all you stoner rock/metal fans out there.
