Killer Boogie: Detroit

There's a reason this new release from Italian rockers Killer Boogie is titled Detroit, as the band seem to have channeled their inner MC5 or Iggy & The Stooges for this one, delivering a raucous set of '70s styled heavy rock & early punk that will take many listeners back to a bygone era. Throw in a little Black Sabbath, Cactus, Sir Lord Baltimore, and of course Blue Cheer, and you have the makings of a fuzz soaked, hard rocking good time. Comprised of guitarist/vocalist Gabriele Fiori (Black Rainbows), drummer Luigi Costanzo (The Wisdoom), and bassist Matteo Marini, Killer Boogie are sure to be a hit with fans of the Heavy Pysch Sounds label. This is garage rock the way it was meant to be played, with upbeat rockers "Bad Rebel", "My Queen", and "Little Flower" just knocking your socks off with relentless riffing, punk energy, and loads of guitar solos dripping with classic sounding fuzz. "Silver Universe" takes the psychedelic route, with some dreamy, effects laden vocals and hypnotic instrumentation, while "Cosmic Eye" comes across like a midnight jam between Blue Cheer and Hawkwind. Perhaps the most vicious track here is the raging "The Golden Age", which contains some face melting, lethal riffs and balls to the wall grooves, a tune that is sure to get your air guitar on and blood pumping. And, if "Dynamite" doesn't bring you back to 1971 with its crushing riffs, pounding rhythms, and killer feedback, than you need to get yourself checked out.

This is wild stuff folks, a fun retro ride to the classic proto-metal/punk sounds of the late '60s & early '70s that will surely provide hours of entertainment. Killer Boogie have done quite well with Detroit, so make sure you seek this one out.
