Exhilarating thrash with screaming wicked vocals is what Greek metal group Bio-Cancer are presenting on their first world-wide release Tormenting the Innocent. Bio-Cancer's 2012 debut Ear Piercing Thrash was a self-released effort that gained the band some exposure and now this potent act looks set to widen that audience. Bio-Cancer have been sought after to perform with the likes of Sodom, Onslaught, Rotting Christ, Xentrix and Artillery, so they must have made a positive first impression which should continue with Tormenting the Innocent.
After a brief introduction Bio-Cancer's aggression detonates with "Obligated to Incest" and some seriously fast guitar work, sinister vocals (and with no lyrics who knows what he's screaming about at times) and clean gang chants, as their drummer is rapidly blasting away. Title track "Tormenting the Innocent" has more of that vocal combination that may not be for everybody, though if you are a fan of darkened metal style lead singers then it may not be an issue. The hooks are prevalent for "Bulletproof" and "Boxed Out" as Bio-Cancer's fondness of speed continues, the cello at the beginning of "F(r)iends Or Fiends" was quite unexpected yet effective and the song just gets better. "Think!" is another with a cool introduction to this appealing thrash number as the metal barrage surges on, Bio-Cancer's metal hooks you in once again on the delightfully titled "Chemical Castration". Tormenting the Innocent isn't the best thrash related album you will hear but Bio-Cancer's intriguing blackened thrash metal is surely worth a try.
