Guitar virtuoso Dave Martone returns to his roots and love for nylon string guitar on his new release for Magna Carta's Magnatone Records, Nacimiento. Taking well known TV & movie themes, hard rock classics, and guitar standards, giving them his own spin, Martone has created a very enjoyable album here for anyone who enjoys dazzling acoustic guitar music.
If you've followed the career of Martone, you no doubt are aware of what an electrifying guitarist he is, but take the 'electric' out and you still have a wonderfully impressive player. Armed with just his nylon string guitar, Martone wows with unique interpretations of the "Spider Man", "Godfather", and "Rocky" themes, while Aerosmith's "Dream On" and Europe's "The Final Countdown" are filled with blazing flamenco styled speedy runs that are as jaw dropping as they are beautiful. "Maria Elena", " Malaguena", and "Besame Mucho" are just gorgeous, while "Classical Gas" is probably the most impressive track here from a technical perspective, featuring some outstanding fingerpicking technique.
Nacimiento will instantly have you rediscovering your love for acoustic guitar music, or, perhaps learning to appreciate it for the very first time. Lovely stuff here from a masterful player.
