Swedish band Noctum have a brand new 7" single out, partly to introduce the world to their new guitar player Christoffer Löfgren, but also to give their growing fanbase something to savor as they work on their next album, the follow-up to 2013s excellent Final Sacrifice. With that album, the band shed some of their early doom influences and went for a sound that was closer to vintage Mercyful Fate, a style that has continued here with Until Then…Until the End. The lead song itself is an upbeat, catchy, fiery heavy metal track filled with tasty riffs & solos, potent rhythms, and David Indelöf's powerful, King Diamond inspired vocals. "In Precious Time" backs up the pace a bit, as heavier riffs take hold and allow the vocals to soar into the heavens. Honestly, these are two very strong songs, and if this is what we have to expect on their next album, then we are certainly in for a treat. Fans of Ghost's first album would be well advised to investigate this band if you haven't already.
