Super-String Theory: An Invention For Times Like These
An Invention For Times Like These is the 3rd release from the Mid West based Super-String Theory. It is a Shredder's delight delving into the Prog-Rock, Fusion and Metal genres all at the same time.
On this release, Super-String Theory are Aaron Roten on Guitar, John Anderson on Drums and Rick Stansfield on Bass. All three are quite accomplished musicians with teaching credits and chops galore. The issue is the somewhat lack of melody within these songs that will most certainly only appeal to a certain type of musician or music fan. The players are "player's players" which results in an ungodly amount of guitar wankery and general musician overkill that is on the borderline of being boring.
This 3rd effort from Super-String Theory will most likely find a home with instrumental music fans that enjoy their music on the extreme side of things, where as the casual or more commercial fans will find this record confusing and "too much". Guitar Hero fans, proceed with caution.
