Confess: Exit Light

Having impressed with an excellent Sleaze infested album in 2014 in the shape Jail, checking out the short single, Exit Light, from Confess, is a no brainer. Good time rock, played with a swagger and no little class, the lead track actually hints at a slight update in the band's sound, although Sunset Strip is still at their heart. Add in the heavier thump of "Awake" and the big choruses and whiskey soaked vocals hit much harder than expected, leaving a deep impression as they do so. A 'radio edit' of "Exit Light" (where the original's classy intro is dropped) closes things out, the reworking suggesting this lot could, with the right push, gain some coverage on the airwaves if stations were actually prepared to take a few risks and step away from the big boys for a minute or three.

World domination may not be just round the corner for Confess, but Exit Light should be dominating your very own playlists. Lovers of late 80s rock with an eye on the here and now need take note.
