My expectations for this Finnish band were low. After all, any group that calls itself Scumrise! (don't forget the exclamation point!) doesn't do much to generate high hopes among new listeners. Fortunately, the EP Stains only lasts about nine minutes. These three songs, despite compelling titles, are basic punk-rock-metal fare with a mildly memorable chorus on "Concept of Living" and half-hearted harmonizing on "Drinking With the King." But this thing is dominated by a dude named Tomppa screaming his way through incoherent lyrics while his bandmates thump and thud and rawk.
