K-X-P: III Part 2

As I noted when I reviewed K-X-P's most recent album III Part 1 that they may be from Finland but are definitely not a metal band which really plays around with all my stereotypical preconceptions in a big way. III Part 2 doesn't move them in any way further to the more usual SoT kind of fare but their work remains interesting and layered.

I thought that the previous record had elements of early Human League (ie before the hits)and that still holds true here but this time with added Depeche Mode influences – at times there's almost a degree of commerciality about proceedings. Not however, on the standout track, the instrumental "Sub Goblin" which features an hypnotic burbling bass line and is perfect for those times when one just wants to clear one's mind of everything. Another solid album from one of Finland's unsung non-metal bands is the verdict.
